It is now the fourth “Ice Age” in the Flößerstadt, and in winter 2020/21 outdoor fun had to be deleted from the city's calendar of events due to the corona pandemic. This year, too, Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner and the members of the Committee for Culture, Youth, Sport and Social Affairs did not make the decision easy for themselves. After a controversial debate, the technical committee voted 6: 4 for the "Ice Age". The critics pointed to the declaration of a climate emergency in Wolfratshausen and the deficit of the event in winter 2019/20. With almost 7,600 visitors, that was more than 35,000 euros. In view of the current tight budget situation (the city council is going into retreat in December for this reason), Greens spokesman Peter Lobenstein rejected a new edition this winter.City hall chief Heilinglechner, on the other hand, took the position: Since the municipality will presumably suffer from the financial consequences of the corona pandemic for years to come, a cancellation would amount to a fatal blow: "Then there will probably never be another 'Ice Age' in Wolfratshausen."

Ice skating and ice stock sport only with an FFP2 mask

Despite the adverse external conditions, "the city of Wolfratshausen will provide a great range of leisure activities for families, children, young people and other visitors," says Marlene Schretzenmaier, Head of Culture in the City Hall Department, City Marketing. People who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons must provide a medical certificate and a current negative PCR test. In principle, FFP2 masks are mandatory during the “Ice Age” - “even in the open air,” says Schretzenmaier.

"Ice Age": Alcohol is prohibited on the old raft landing

The event area on the old raft landing is fenced, there is a separate entrance or exit.

There is a strict alcohol ban on the riverside, food and drinks are not offered on site.

Unlike in previous years, there are no “additional events” either.

In 2019 the team from the La Vida youth center organized an ice disco, there was a flirt and rock night and a veal sausage morning pint on New Year's Eve.

The city expressly reserves the right to adapt the security concept should the state government tighten the infection protection regulations again in the next few weeks.
