Jean-Éric Schoettl was Secretary General of the Constitutional Council from 1997 to 2007. He is Honorary State Councilor.
The Olympic Charter states in its article 50.2 the rule according to which:
"No kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is authorized in a place, site or other Olympic site".
This principle of neutrality has been set out in its statutes by the French Football Federation: “
Respect for regulatory dress and rule 50 of the Olympic Charter ensure the neutrality of sport at the practice sites.
As such, the following are prohibited, during competitions or events organized on the territory of the Federation or in connection with them: any speech or display of a political, ideological, religious or trade union nature;
any wearing of a sign or outfit ostensibly manifesting a political, philosophical, religious or trade union affiliation;
any act of proselytizing or maneuvering
