The Kyrgyz authorities announced that they had thwarted an authoritarian coup attempt that was supposed to be orchestrated after the parliamentary elections that will be held in the country next Sunday.
Russia Today website quoted a statement of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic today: “It thwarted the activities of a criminal group that was planning to seize power by force and obtained information about a group of people who were planning to orchestrate a series of provocations with the aim of destabilizing the situation in the country after the elections in order to seize power later.” .
The committee stressed the existence of compelling evidence of the criminal activities practiced by this group under the leadership of some political forces with subversive positions, including members of Parliament and former high-ranking officials.
The committee explained that these people chose about a thousand aggressive young men with the aim of organizing popular demonstrations in the capital, Bishkek, after the election results were announced, in order to seize power.
The committee confirmed the filing of a criminal case against those accused of preparing to seize the judgment by force.
