Miesbach / Landkreis - How to deal with the shortage of skilled workers in the field of care?

It was recently discussed at a meeting in the Miesbach district office.

The care situation in the Miesbach district is more than just tense, the district administration reports and also gives a reason: “Two fully inpatient care facilities are closing down, which increases the pressure on the outpatient care services and the hospital.” This is the senior citizens' residence in Schliersee already closed - and at the end of 2021 the Villa Bruneck in Kreuth will close its inpatient care department.

The outpatient care services are also struggling to maintain the care of their care recipients. In view of the challenges posed by the corona pandemic, the nursing staff in hospitals has long since reached their limit. District Administrator Olaf von Löwis and his department heads Christina Schuster and Severin Eichenseher recently discussed this with representatives of the Association of Nurses in Bavaria, namely founding and board member Burkhard Köppen and President Georg Sigl-Lehner.

The Association of Nurses in Bavaria (VdPB), as a public corporation, represents the interests and self-governing body of professional carers in Bavaria.

The VdPB represents the interests of nursing professionals and nursing assistants who work in Bavaria's hospitals, retirement and nursing homes and outpatient services, and also sits on committees relevant to nursing care in Bavaria, thereby helping to shape the present and future of the nursing professions.

As reported by the district office, various forecasts confirm that the Miesbach district will have a significant increase in the need for care services in the coming decades.

"The real problem, however, is not the care offers, but the staff who look after those requiring care," it continues.

The result of the exchange of information was therefore to try together to make the nursing profession more attractive.

This must be a task for society as a whole.

The district is already taking a small step: At the district's own hospital in Agatharied, affordable employee apartments are to be built for nurses from the hospital and the district's own care facility.
