The fourth corona wave is sweeping inexorably across Europe.
The number of infections is skyrocketing not only in Germany, there are also terrifying reports elsewhere.

The 7-day incidence in Germany has never been higher.
A few weeks before the second Corona Christmas, the number of cases is shooting up inexorably, and there is no reassurance in sight for the time being.
A comprehensive lockdown does not seem to be on the political agenda, but the booster vaccinations are hardly slowing down current developments either.
However, Germany is in bad company.
There are other negative examples in Europe.
Numerous countries are struggling with significantly more infections and have long since taken more drastic measures.

Corona in Europe: Austria and Romania in lockdown - Slovakia with extreme numbers
Probably the best-known example at the moment takes place in one of our southern neighbors. Austria has been in a complete lockdown again since Monday (November 22), and a general compulsory vaccination is to come into force from February. Tough measures that are owed to the current corona numbers in the Alpine republic: The 7-day incidence in Austria is 1094.5, according to the latest information, 64.9% of the population are fully vaccinated. The republic is in first place among the German neighboring countries, closely followed by the Czech Republic (1,061.2) and Belgium (994.9).
If you move away from the center of Europe, however, you will also find countries that are in many respects worse off than some of our neighbors. The highest incidence in Europe is found in Slovakia. With a value of 1350.2, even in an international comparison, no large nation can keep up, and the vaccination rate leaves a lot to be desired. Only 42.82% of the 5.46 million inhabitants received complete vaccination protection, just 47.67% received their first spades.
The people in Romania are currently experiencing how effective a lockdown can be.
With an incidence of 92.4, the country in Eastern Europe is doing well, which until a few weeks ago would have been hard to imagine.
On October 21, the value was still at 549.8, four days later a 30-day lockdown began.
The government also made it mandatory to wear masks outdoors, and schools and kindergartens were closed for two weeks.
Numerous seriously ill patients were flown to neighboring countries because the hospitals were overloaded.
The low vaccination rate may also have contributed to this: only 39.25% of all Romanians received their first vaccination.
Corona in Europe: former problem children give hope
It is noteworthy, however, that the problem children of the first corona wave seem to have put the latest development away quite well.
Spain, which has suffered almost 88,000 deaths so far during the pandemic, is currently reporting an incidence of 94.4.
80% of all Spaniards have received a full vaccination.
Italy is also currently doing well through the fourth wave.
Around 133,000 Italians lost their lives in the pandemic (only the UK had more victims in Europe).
The vaccination rate (complete) is 72.75%.
One can only speculate how the numbers in Germany will develop in the coming weeks.
In Europe there are at least enough examples, in both a positive and a negative sense.
