Jörg Meuthen and Tino Chrupalla will initially remain in office as AfD chairmen.

Because the federal board of the party has decided that the federal party conference planned for December 11 and 12 in Wiesbaden will be canceled due to the pandemic.

The party confirmed this to SPIEGEL.

The meeting should be rescheduled in the first half of the year.

The two top politicians of the AfD no longer wanted to run for the new leadership.

Meuthen had called for a complete new start in terms of personnel at the party leadership - instead of "always the same faces".
