His younger brother Alexander accused him of defamation for remarks made on television. The writer and director was released this Friday.

The Paris Criminal Court dismissed Alexandre Moix, the 48-year-old plaintiff, who accused his older brother Yann Moix of having qualified him, during a broadcast on C8 at the end of 2019, as

"close to neo-Nazi groups"

and of victim of a

"psychiatric drama"

,

"interned"

.

During the trial on October 15, the prosecutor considered that only one remark was possibly reprehensible: the one in which Yann Moix affirmed that his brother had taken

"heavy psychotropic drugs for many years"

.

During his indictment, he had suggested that the various offenses raised in the proceedings may have amounted to public insult rather than defamation.

The only one present at the hearing among the two brothers, Alexandre Moix had explained that he had never had political activity, unlike Yann who recognized anti-Semitic writings dating back to the early 1990s.

The complainant had also refuted the seriousness of the psychiatric problems alleged by Yann Moix, acknowledging a simple episode of depression due to the bullying of his brother.

The two men have a very stubborn resentment.

Each accuses the other of damaging their personal reputation through regular verbal attacks.

Yann Moix had written a letter to the court justifying his refusal to appear.

He called his brother a

"dangerous man"

whom he preferred to avoid at all costs.

As for Alexandre Moix, he had testified at the bar of the abuse inflicted by his brother during a

"terrible childhood"

and forms of harassment in adulthood.

"My brother does not like my presence on Earth"

and

"I am asking justice today to ensure that it stops harming my career, my family,"

he proclaimed.
