Baghdad-Sana
Thousands of Iraqis demonstrated again on the outskirts of the Green Zone in central Baghdad to denounce what they called the rigging of the recent parliamentary elections.
Iraqi media reported that the demonstrators raised slogans denouncing the fraud and demanded the annulment of the election results. They also gathered in front of the Green Zone gate near the Ministry of Defense and tried to storm it by bringing down the concrete walls that the authorities put in place last night.
And the Iraqi security forces have taken strict measures since last night in anticipation of any escalation.
Several Iraqi political blocs have submitted appeals against the election results, demanding manual counting of votes, while the Electoral Commission is still considering the appeals before issuing the final results of the elections.
