Hebertshausen

- dozens of snow shovels, fire slippers, tent poles and tarpaulins, blankets, mattresses, crockery and cutlery in hundreds of sets, hoses, pumps, protective clothing and ready-to-use modules for power generation: everything that the disaster control in the district has for emergencies is now stored centrally in a new, spacious high-bay warehouse in Hebertshausen. The volunteers tackled two weekends, then equipment and material were brought to Hebertshausen. These things were previously housed in a dozen different fire stations in the district.

This warehouse is the core of the facility, which was planned as a disaster control hall right next to the Hebertshausen fire station, and which was given additional tasks over the years with a training center, district fire inspection and district operations center. With a view to the functions that are now all gathered in the new building, District Fire Chief Franz Bründler speaks of the “disaster control center” during a tour of the building. An official inauguration ceremony for this district project had to be postponed due to the pandemic, but District Administrator Stefan Löwl emphasizes the importance of the project. “Time shows that disaster control and preparedness are becoming more and more important.” So far, the decentralized storage of the many devices has been a major problem, “the construction of the disaster control hall is an important step”.

In fact, this facility for the safety of the district citizens, planned long before Corona with a view to common emergencies such as floods, storm events or forest fires, is now just at the right time, says District Fire Councilor Bründler. "The best example is now the construction of the drive-in vaccination route in Karlsfeld." In the past, volunteers from the fire brigades, the Technical Relief Organization and the Red Cross would have tent poles and tarpaulins, firewood, lighting and heating elements from five or six different fire stations in such a situation of the district and then have to assemble everything on site. Now the components are stored centrally in the high-bay warehouse, preparatory work can be done in or in front of the hall. "After that, everything is charged and driven there."

A look into the rack warehouse, which rises up to a height of 6.8 meters, reveals the variety of emergencies for which the disaster control in the district is prepared. Everything that the rescue workers need in terms of special equipment in an emergency is stored on euro pallets and in lattice boxes. From snow shovels to fire pats, from emergency power generators to infusion stands from the former Corona emergency hospital. A disaster control vehicle with a crane is also stationed here, which is loaded as required. So that the disaster control runs smoothly even in the event of a power failure, the center has an emergency power supply, which was planned to be mobile in order to be able to help out flexibly in the district in emergencies.

Next to the main building is a small cold hall where 60 cubic meters of dry sand and prefabricated sandbags for flood protection are stored. A sandbag filling system is also parked here. "An in-house design in a roll-off container, mobile and ready for immediate use," explains Bründler.

The two halls become the disaster control center only through the administration wing.

There the district fire inspection has rooms, there is a large training room and an office for the four volunteer district fire supervisors who organize and prepare professional training for the fire brigades in the district.

And the district operations center will be housed here in the future, the move from the Dachau fire station will take place during the Christmas holidays, reports District Fire Councilor Bründler.

Right next door is the staff command room, where those responsible from the fire brigade, BRK, THW, police and armed forces coordinate operations in the event of “major damage”.
