Turkish police suppressed a demonstration in Istanbul protesting the violence practiced by the Turkish regime against women.
Reuters reported that thousands of people, mostly women, staged a demonstration yesterday evening in Taksim Square in the city center and raised banners calling for the resignation of the government and urgent action against gender-based violence in Turkey.
The Turkish regime police closed the square with barricades amid a heavy security presence, clashed with the protesters and fired pepper spray at them.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish regime withdrew from the European Council Convention on the Protection of Women and against Domestic Violence and Abuse against them.
Although this system does not keep official statistics on the killing of women, the data of the Crimes Against Women website showed that 1964 women were killed in Turkey since 2010, and the World Health Organization revealed that 38 percent of Turkish women are subjected to violence from their partner.
