Gmund - The financial situation of the five ski clubs in the Tegernsee Valley has deteriorated drastically due to the Corona.

Now they have asked for help.

The Gmund municipal council has now discussed the Ostin ski club, which has applied for support in the amount of 20,000 euros.

Mayor Alfons Besel went into the background.

In the official meeting of the valley mayors at the end of September, the application of all five ski clubs was discussed for the first time.

It is a considerable sum that would be required in the valley-wide overall package: a grant of 100,000 euros would be required annually.

"Not least because of the elimination of two forest festivals, the situation for the clubs has worsened dramatically," emphasized Besel.

In the meantime, reserves and reserves have been used up due to the tense situation.

Shortfall of up to 70,000 euros

With a corresponding impact on operations: The clubs could no longer finance the previous joint training concept - and that in view of the fact that hundreds of children would be supported.

This also applies to the training center at the Sonnenbichl in Bad Wiessee: “It doesn't pay for itself,” emphasized Besel.

Every year there is a gap of 50,000 to 70,000 euros.

At this point he briefly outlined the joint training concept of the clubs: Up to category U8, the clubs themselves train, for categories U9 to U16 a valley team is formed every year, divided into the performance groups sport and fun.

The annual budget of the training groups this winter is 180,000 euros.

It is financed by the clubs, from parental contributions and private donations.

Membership fees not increased

Of course, the clubs tried to take measures to cover the deficits, explained Besel.

Campaigns for the Christmas season have been carried out and parental participation has been doubled.

The membership fees have not been increased.

In order to be able to maintain operations, further donors have been generated.

However, there is no further support from the German Ski Association (DSV), said Besel.

Its sponsors could not be acquired either.

“It's a very difficult situation for the club.

We have to stand together here, ”Besel appealed to the committee.

On-site ski center on the Sonnenbichl

In addition, the ski club has never asked the community for financial help.

Besel particularly emphasized the importance of youth work that is done in the clubs: "Excellent work is done here and optimal training is made possible."

CSU councilor Martina Ettstaller addressed an emphatic request to speak to her council colleagues.

The associations have always received financial help from the valley communities, she said, underscoring the enormous voluntary commitment.

With the ski center on the Sonnenbichl, you also have a training facility on site, which also has a regulating effect, as long trips to ski areas in Austria, for example, are not necessary.

Advent calendar of the clubs

“Our children have to be worth it to us.

It's money well spent, ”she said.

At the same time, she used the opportunity to present the associations' advent calendar.

It costs 10 euros.

Each copy is provided with a winning number and takes part in the drawing of 288 prizes.

The money goes to promoting young talent.

Laura Wagner (Greens) saw the application more critically.

After all, it is a considerable sum that is being requested.

As a Greens, she does not ultimately want to support snowmaking and floodlighting systems with her decision.

In addition, in contrast to other branches, the money only benefits competitive sports: "Children who just want to ski for fun fall through the funding."

In the end, the motion was approved with a large majority and only two votes against.
