In June 2022 there should be another city festival in the city center in Penzberg, provided the pandemic allows.
The town hall officially announced this on Thursday.
It is planned together with the Roche company, as their plant in the Nonnenwald - first Boehringer, then Roche - is 50 years old.
Penzberg - Almost two and a half years ago, the last major Penzberg city festival was held.
Back then, in pre-Corona times, Penzberg celebrated the 100th anniversary of the city elevation.
Today the pictures of the many people celebrating exuberantly in the city center seem like they are from another world.
Two and a half years ago, however, it was also said that such city festivals should take place regularly.
Nothing came of it last year.
Now it should work in 2022.
City festival is to take place on three days in June 2022
The Penzberg town hall announced on Thursday that a city festival was on the program again for next year. Since Roche is celebrating its 50th anniversary celebrations at the Penzberg site in 2022, it makes sense to "celebrate a festival lasting several days". According to the town hall, the three-day city festival called "Stadt.Fest.Spiele" is scheduled for Friday to Sunday, June 24th to 26th. A joint working group from Roche and the city administration is working on "a colorful and interesting program". It will be presented to the public early next year.
Thomas Sendl, head of the cultural department in the town hall, did not want to reveal much more when asked on Thursday.
Just this much: it is celebrated in the city center, also in the open air.
The date has now been announced, said Sendl, so that clubs and surrounding communities also know and can adjust to it.
After the success of the city festival in 2019, there was a wish that such celebrations take place every year or at least every two years.
This year, the “Pro Innenstadt” association also listed this as a wish in its eight-point catalog for the inner city.
City festival should already take place in 2021 - it fell victim to the Corona savings program
This year it should actually have been that time again. But the city festival in 2021 was canceled - for financial reasons. The finance committee cut spending in its budget consultations at the end of 2020 because tax revenues threatened to collapse due to the corona pandemic. The city festival, for which around 45,000 euros were estimated, was the first victim. But it was agreed that it would be done in 2022, according to Sendl. According to him, several months ago there were talks with Roche about the sponsorship. The result was that the plant will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022. The joint event was born.
Isn't it strange to plan a big festival for a lot of people in these times?
Sendl thinks about it for a moment and then talks about the “bitter experience” of his colleague Monika Engel, who put a lot of work into planning the “ice fairy tale”, both of which were canceled shortly before.
"Yes, it is a strange feeling to plan a party in such a situation," says Sendl.
"Nevertheless, we hope that in June we will be ready for such a big festival to be possible".
