Again this year, Ebersberg's nativity scenes can be admired in the shop windows.
This time it should be 68 stations.
The preparations are ongoing.
Ebersberg - As hard-working as the Christmas elves, Stefan Kühnlein and his helpers run through the basement at Reischlhof in Ebersberg, surrounded by cribs.
Posters are counted, number cards are distributed and checklists are scribbled on.
Because next Sunday the crib path in Ebersberg wants to be finished.
"Normally you can hardly get through here, but there are already a lot of cribs in the shops", says Thomas Warg, district home administrator and city guide.
This year he is finally able to offer guided tours of the crib path - this is organized by the Association of Self-Employed People - he announces and smiles.
Because last year the tours had to be canceled due to the pandemic.

Again and again the question comes up: “What can you tell about a nativity scene? Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and again at the next manger, ”he says. But the cribs on the cellar shelves alone show how differently the birth of Jesus can be presented: cribs in bread boxes, violin boxes or on doormats. From the tiny sewing box to the huge landscape that requires several wooden panels, everything is included.
"There are alpine nativity scenes, Neapolitan, oriental, made of wood, clay, knitted, actually made of all materials," enthuses Warg.
International cribs, such as from Asia or one from America, are also there - including Indians.
Other countries other manners.
From giraffes to elephants, turtles, black and white sheep, all kinds of animal figures cavort in the exhibits.
According to Warg, there are no limits to the crib artists.
That's why the figure of a skier comes along too.

Since the two Gospels tell very different variants about the birth of Jesus, there is also a lot of leeway for witnesses to the birth: "One speaks of kings, the other of shepherds," explains Warg. But these are actually not kings, but wise men from the East, he clarifies. "However, there is no mention of how many there really were," says Warg in a practiced voice, as if he were already on his first tour.
A total of 68 cribs want to be extended this time and set up in the shop windows of the Ebersberg shops.
“The one here has to go to the printer filling station, the other one to the Seidl hearing aid and this one to the Schwaiger café,” Kühnert eagerly coordinates his hard-working helpers.
“This is the crib boss, so to speak,” says Warg and pats him on the shoulder.
But he doesn't like this term: "The boss is always stupid because that means that he alone makes the decisions, I would say I'm the organizer who pulls the red strings," corrects Kühnert.
Krippenweg in Ebersberg: under the same management for seven years
He and his colleagues have been looking after the crib path for seven years, says Warg.
"And nobody breaks away, we shouldn't be allowed to do that," adds Kühnert with a smile.
But now he has to go on, after all, there are still enough shop windows waiting for their crib.
The Krippenweg will open next Sunday at 2 p.m. in front of the Ebersberg town hall.
The first guided tours will then take place free of charge.
For the guided tours, which then take place every Thursday and Sunday at 4 p.m.,
