On the occasion of the Feast of Lights, ancient menorahs from 60 Jewish communities are displayed at the Nahum Gutman Museum • One of them is the menorah on which Levin Kipnis wrote the famous poem

On the occasion of Hanukkah, an exhibition of menorahs, collected by the couple Drora and Pinchas Zakai during their 46 years of marriage, is on display at the Nahum Gutman Museum in Tel Aviv.

What is exciting about the collection, beyond the menorahs that came from all over the world, is the story of a German menorah that was given to a Jewish child in Germany before the Holocaust, and which is decorated with thin candlesticks.

Well, it turns out that the menorah, whose owner did not survive the Holocaust, was handed over to the iconic poet Levin Kipnis, who inspired the song "Ner Li Dakik", which is sung to this day at every Hanukkah throughout Israel.

"It turns out that the special item moved Kipnis so much that it actually depicted the menorah within the song itself," its owners note.

Beyond this menorah, menorahs from 60 Jewish communities around the world are displayed in the exhibition, entitled "I Have a Menorah," with the story of each one and its historical background told in detail.

All the menorahs in the exhibition were cleaned, and their special and initial appearance was specially restored to show what they looked like in all their glory.

The exhibition will continue throughout the holiday, and in addition the museum will hold a variety of activities for the whole family on the subject of Hanukkah, with admission for children up to the age of 18 being free.

"The exhibition has all kinds of special and exciting menorahs, such as the menorah of the Shlosh family, the founders of Neve Tzedek, and many other neighborhoods in Tel Aviv since the beginning of the 20th century. Nahum Gutman Museum.

According to her, "the main magic of such a menorah exhibition is that every person who comes to it will see the characteristics characteristic of the country of origin of the Jewish community from which the menorah comes."
