President of Ukraine: We unveiled a coup attempt involving Russian officials
Zalansky declined to say whether he thought Moscow was behind the plot, which was planned for next week, and the Kremlin was quick to deny any connection.
According to him, the conspirators tried to recruit the rich man in Ukraine against him.
"We are fully prepared for any escalation," he said of the concentration of Russian forces at the border

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zalansky said today (Friday) that Kiev has uncovered a plot to oust his government next week, with the involvement of Russian elements, in the shadow of the high tension between the two neighbors threatening to develop into war. However, he declined to say whether he believed the Kremlin was behind it and Moscow was quick to quickly deny any involvement.
During a lengthy press conference, Zalansky said that Ukraine's intelligence services obtained audio recordings of conspirators who allegedly tried to recruit tycoon Rinat Akhmetov, the richest man in Ukraine.
"We are facing challenges not only from Russia and possible escalation - we also have major challenges at home. I received information about a coup that will take place in our country on December 1-2," the Ukrainian president said. Following Zalanski's remarks, Ukraine's government bonds have fallen to their lowest level in more than a year.
Zalansky did not elaborate on the coup attempt.
"I'm sorry, I can not talk about it," he said when asked explicitly if he thought Russia was involved.
However, he spoke at length about the threat posed by the Russian military, declaring that Ukraine would be prepared for any conflict, should it break out.
Amchatov called the president's remarks a "complete lie."
He added that he was "angry at the spread of this lie, whatever the president's motives may be."
He said, "My position has been and will be explicit and decisive: an independent, democratic and united Ukraine, with Crimea and my home district, Donbas. My actions prove it."

Kiev, the United States and NATO have warned in recent days against the possibility of invasion of Russia, given the concentration of power of the largest within its borders and in the Crimea, which annexed it in 2014. Kremlin said that this is a false positive.
"We are in complete control of our borders and we are fully prepared for all Escalation, "Zalansky said. Ukraine has lost control of parts of eastern Ukraine since pro-Russian separatists launched an uprising against it in 2014. Ukraine's military intelligence chief said last week that Russia had concentrated more than 92,000 troops around Ukraine, ahead of an attack in late January Or early February.
Ukraine, which wants to join the NATO alliance, received a large amount of ammunition and advanced anti-tank missiles from the United States earlier this year, and in response the Russian president warned that the West was approaching its "red lines".
Zalansky even said that his chief of staff, Andrei Yarmak, would soon contact officials in Russia to discuss the crisis between the two countries.
At the same time, Yarmak said he would talk to Kremlin official Dimitri Kozak.
Russia claims that Ukraine wants to retake the separatist territories.
Zalansky said that Kiev has no such plans, adding that Russia's rhetoric regarding NATO enlargement - which it wants to join despite Moscow's firm opposition - is a worrying sign.
