Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Russian peacekeeping forces are playing a positive role in Nagorno-Karabakh.
During his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who arrived in Sochi today to participate in a tripartite meeting on Karabakh, Putin said, "The Russian peacekeeping forces in the Nagorno-Karabakh region play a positive role, but unfortunately some incidents occur in the region."
On November 9, 2020, under the auspices of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan reached a ceasefire agreement that ended a conflict between Baku and Yerevan in the Nagorno-Karabakh region that lasted about a month and a half.
The agreement stipulates that the Armenian and Azerbaijani forces will stop at their current positions and the Russian peacekeeping forces will be deployed along the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh.
