A red-and-white celebration in Buenos Aires.
River Plate defeated Racing Club 0-4 tonight (Thursday-Friday) and won the 37th Argentina Championship in its history.
With four games left in the season and a 9-point gap over Tigers Cordoba (who also lost and dropped to third place in the end), River players knew that a draw would be enough for them to win the title right now, but why settle for one point?
Agustin Flavino gave River a 0-1 lead in the 32nd minute which also set the score at the break at the Monumental Stadium, which for the first time since the outbreak of the Corona plague - was filled with fans.
Three minutes into the second half, Julian Albers doubled the lead and until the end the striker Brian Romero added his own double (78,68) to complete the host's big celebration.
This is River's first championship title in seven years.
In addition, it is also the first win of her coach, Marcelo Gerardo, who came to her in 2014, and tonight as mentioned - after achieving other great titles - he finally won the only title he was missing.

Marcelo Gallardo's work with River Plate has been incredible.
New title, new league and still an amazing impact on the team.

Gallardo was on Barcelona list in October as potential new manager together with Roberto Martinez - then Laporta decided to go for Xavi.
