Mittelstetten - The electrical planner from the engineering office Fischer & Fey presented the municipal council with an estimate according to which almost 190 modules, which could be placed on the four roofs, could produce an annual output of over 73,000 kilowatt hours.

Only 47,000 kilowatt hours are needed for personal use - even with new room ventilation in day care centers and schools.

The estimated investment costs, including an electricity storage system that makes the building independent of an external supply, are around 180,000 euros. One financing model would be a low-interest investment loan from KfW Bank for municipalities with a term of 30 years. This would cost the community almost 8,000 euros in interest and repayment annually. If the electricity costs saved and the excess electricity sold were offset, the system would have paid for itself after 20 years.

Instead of feeding the self-generated energy into the grid for little money, the surplus of solar power could be used to operate a communal e-car and a charging station that can also be used by citizens.

Compared with the current prices for diesel fuel and with a respective mileage of 100,000 kilometers per year, the experts come to a total return of almost 400,000 euros in 30 years.

And on a carbon dioxide reduction of over 800 tons.

This step towards climate neutrality was also the real concern.

"If it also pays off - all the better," said company boss Werner Fischer.

At first, the municipal council only had the study presented to them.

Whether and in what size the solar power roofs will be implemented will be decided at the beginning of next year.
