The NRW state parliament has cleared the way for the admission of corona patients from other federal states.
The state parliament unanimously authorized the NRW Ministry of Health on Friday to issue a corresponding ordinance.
This instructs the NRW hospitals to postpone operations that can be planned after medical considerations in order to create space for seriously ill corona patients from outside.
Düsseldorf - According to dpa information, a special Air Force aircraft carrying Covid patients from Bavaria was supposed to land at Münster-Osnabrück Airport that evening.
"The situation with us is such that we can help and we do that," said NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU).
“That is a matter of course for North Rhine-Westphalia.” Wüst pointed out that this would mean that operations that could be planned for many vaccinated people would have to be postponed.
"It is a gigantic solidarity effort that we are now asking these people to do," he said.
"There are difficult weeks ahead of us."

According to the figures from Friday, NRW still has 362 intensive care beds with ventilation options available for very severe cases.
The seven-day incidence nationwide at 274.2 is well below the national average (438.2).
As part of the so-called cloverleaf system, Covid 19 patients should be able to be distributed nationwide if hospitals are threatened with collapse in individual regions.
