In the second attempt, the Hohenpeißenberg municipal council has now awarded the contracts for the conversion of the former savings bank into a children's home.

At the first attempt, the submitted offers were so expensive that they would have exceeded the financial framework.

Hohenpeißenberg - After the second invitation to tender, it has now worked: Resolutions have been passed for all the trades that have to be awarded as part of the renovation and conversion of the former Sparkasse into the “Kinderhaus am Schächen”. The Hohenpeißenberg municipal council decided in its meeting on Wednesday to award the electrical installation work, plumbing and ventilation installation work, heating installation work, metal construction and locksmith work and carpentry work to the companies that had been proposed by the engineering office entrusted with this. The resolutions were passed without a dissenting vote.

Most of the orders for work on the former Sparkasse can be given to companies in the region - a local company ("Weinmann Elektro-Anlagen") was even commissioned with the electrical installation work. "We would have liked to have placed more orders locally, but if there are no offers, that won't work," said Mayor Thomas Dorsch.

As reported, the award should have already taken place, but at the first attempt the offers - especially those relating to the master builder work - were so expensive that they would have exceeded the financial framework. "The first time, the master builder would have torn up all cost plans," said Dorsch after all the trades had been awarded. "This time there are all offers that are still within the financial framework," said the mayor. Nevertheless, at the current level, the costs would be around 165,000 euros and thus around eight percent above the originally planned expenditure, of which the Hohenpeißenberg community only has to take on a small portion. Grants totaling around 1.4 million euros had already been approved by the Free State and a special federal funding program.

In 2019, the municipality of Hohenpeißenberg acquired the former savings bank building and then temporarily converted the rooms on the upper floor so that a daycare center could start operating there in September 2019.

During the renovation work on the savings bank building, it is now housed in the parish hall (we reported).

Now the ground floor of the former savings bank is also to be converted into a kindergarten.

If all the work can be done according to plan, then the "Kinderhaus am Schächen" should be ready to move into in one year.
