The 1 billion Smart Transportation Fund began accepting applications in March this year to subsidize local organizations or enterprises to research and apply innovative technologies to facilitate travel, improve road network or road usage efficiency, and improve driving safety.

All applications are reviewed and considered by the management committee in batches. The committee is chaired by the Deputy Director (Planning and Technical Services) of the Transport Department, and its members include government representatives, industry experts and relevant stakeholder representatives.

The fund has received more than 30 applications so far.

Have applied for research to analyze driving behavior with mobile apps and driving data

The Transport Department stated that the approved safe driving plan aims to develop mobile applications and driving data analysis systems to collect driving data and analyze driving behaviors of drivers. The project period is 12 months. Approved funds are about 1.16 million yuan.

Two PolyU projects approved to study traffic flow and driver's risk-taking behavior prediction mechanism

The other two projects are both applied by the Polytechnic University. They are the traffic speed and traffic flow estimator of the whole road network, and the study of real-time data-driven, intelligent and automated sustainable transportation systems based on changes in driver behavior and psychological conditions.

The former was approved for about 1.98 million yuan with a period of 12 months. It proposes a data-driven model to develop a traffic speed and traffic flow estimator for the entire road network to simultaneously estimate traffic speed and traffic flow.

The latter was approved for nearly 5 million yuan for a period of 24 months, aiming to identify the instability of drivers' behavior and psychological conditions through intelligent automation technology, thereby developing an online data-driven risky behavior prediction mechanism.

The Transport Department urges interested organizations or companies to submit applications to push Hong Kong into a new era of transportation and make Hong Kong a more livable and sustainable city.

After 26 years, we will conduct transportation research. It is expected that the priority promotion of taxi services will be completed in 2025. Government tunnel non-stop toll payment system.
