Death pictures: For Waltraud Franzspeck they are more than mementos of the deceased.

They are part of the history of a place that no longer exists: Schwaigermoos.

Hallbergmoos / Oberding

- Waltraud Franzspeck grew up in Schwaigermoos (Oberding municipality).

She has lived in Hallbergmoos for 49 years.

Many of the former "Mösler" live in the area.

Others moved further away.

Most of the 65 residents had been relocated in order to build Munich Airport in Erdinger Moos.

The place has always remained home, of course.

Five years ago, 164 pages appeared on the subject

The memory of it keeps Waltraud Franzspeck alive.

Five years ago, Franzspeck and her friend Hildgard Zörr published a chronicle about the village.

164 pages thick.

Every farm, its inhabitants and their daily work are listed there.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Franzspeck has now published a second documentation: a chronicle of deaths and graves. "I always kept pictures of the deaths of individual people in a box and began to assign them to the individual families from Schwaigermoos," she says of the starting point of her research. The next step: the search for the final resting places of those who have emigrated. In the past four years she has been on the road a lot with her husband - to cemeteries in Munich, Dachau, Erding, Mühldorf and the surrounding communities. There she visited and photographed the graves of 42 families from Schwaigermoos. “When it became known what research I was doing, I heard from many that I should rather make a bound book out of my information and photos. The mayor of Oberding, Bernhard Mücke, encouraged me to do so and promised me financial support. "

The chronicle is available for 35 euros

Waltraud Franzspeck recently presented the volume in the town hall of Oberding: a lovingly compiled chronicle that has left space for personal entries and additions to every family name.

The chronicle is available for 35 euros in the Oberding town hall or from Waltraud Franzspeck (0811) 3939.
