The Munich truck builder is getting a new boss again.
He comes from the former arch-rival Scania of all places.
Munich - Andreas Tostmann was head of the Munich truck manufacturer MAN for just over a year and a half.
He is now being replaced by a previous Scania manager.
The supervisory board of the VW commercial vehicle holding company Traton has already decided that Alexander Vlaskamp will take over the seat of Tostmann on the Traton board of directors.
The fact that he will also become CEO of MAN is apparently just a matter of form. "The appointment still requires the final approval of the supervisory board of MAN Bus & Truck SE," says Traton's announcement. With the new appointment, the long-feared excess weight of Scania in the VW commercial vehicle subsidiaries in Munich will be further consolidated. Vlaskamp is currently Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing for Scania. In September the then Traton boss Matthias Gründler was replaced by Christian Levin, who at the same time continues to lead the subsidiary Scania.
In addition to Scania and MAN, Traton also owns Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (Brazil) and Navistar (USA).
Traton is also connected to the Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Sinotruk through an equity stake held by MAN.
However, there has been talk internally for some time about putting the business in the world's largest commercial vehicle market on a new footing.
