What should you do with sorted out things like clothes and shoes if you don't want to just throw them into a used clothes container?

In Gröbenzell there has been a solution for this since June: the circulatory dandruff.

Gröbenzell - Things can be stored in a converted construction container - protected from wind and weather. At the same time, citizens can drop by at any time of the day and take what they like with them. “Swap and reuse, instead of throwing it away” is the motto of the circular shed in the concrete plant at Weidegrund 1. The idea comes from Larissa Holmer, who is from Gröbenzell. "I heard about the Munich Association of Circulators," says the 34-year-old. The cabinets are available for citizens to exchange in some districts of Munich. Larissa Holmer turned to Mayor Martin Schäfer. Together they organized a discarded, accessible container. The town hall boss took over the contact to the craftsmen for the renovation work and the costs. To coordinate the exchange project, Holmer and Schäfer brought Tim Yilmaz from Groebenzell on board.

“The shed itself is completely recycled,” says Larissa Holmer.

Parquet, wallpaper and lamps have all been installed before and are therefore second-hand goods.

Old sinks were attached to the outside of the container.

Now shrubs and flowers grow in it.

Equipped with carpets and shelves, the interior of the container has an almost homely character.

The craftsmen welded and screwed storage surfaces from scrap iron and wood scraps.

So that the furniture in the container is not accidentally taken away, the initiators have marked it with a red dot.

A wide range of second-hand goods can now be found on the shelves and chests of drawers, from crockery and cutlery to books and CDs to candles and Christmas tree decorations.

The parts never stay there for long.

“It's amazing what goes away,” says Mayor Schäfer.

Three times a week, Holmer checks that everything is in order and puts things in order.

"Objects that were left two days before are often gone," says the Gröbenzellerin happily.

Sometimes larger objects such as tables and chairs are put down.

Larissa Holmer then puts this on an online sales platform to give away.

And these large second-hand goods also find a new owner immediately.

“We also hung a notice board inside the container, a kind of swap exchange,” explains Tim Yilmaz, who works full-time as a geologist.

The Munich resident also pays attention to sustainability in his private life and tries to throw away as little as possible.

"For the past seven years we have only bought new shoes and underwear for our children," explains the 42-year-old.

The rest came together through the exchange with acquaintances.

“My children think it's great to get something here in the container,” says social worker Holmer.

For Schäfer, the recycling container is a piece of the mosaic in the huge process of making the lifestyle more sustainable.

The three initiators are already considering setting up more circulatory sheds in Groebenzell.
