We have an overview of the broadcast dates for the classic Christmas film.

  • For decades, “The Little Lord” has been part of German television programs at Christmas.

  • In 2021, lovers of Jack Gold's film adaptation of the youth book of the same name can again be seen on TV.

  • We have an overview of all broadcast dates for the classic with Ricky Schroder and Alec Guinness.

Munich - When the candles on the Advent wreath finally flicker again, traditionally certain films have to flicker again on the German screen.

The series of Christmas classics that whole families gather in front of their TV sets year after year definitely includes “The Little Lord”.

Jack Gold's classic film has been bringing a bit of warmth to the cold winters since the eighties, and fans can look forward to their piece of film history again this December.

Here we tell you how, when and where you can see the "little Lord" in 2021.

"The Little Lord": The story of Cedric Errol and the Earl of Dourincourt has long since become a cult Christmas film

England at the beginning of the 20th century - the story of Cedric Errol, played by child star Ricky Schroder, and his grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, takes place in this historical setting.

The latter, embodied in a grandiose manner by the acting legend Alec Guinness, lives quite lonely in his castle as a somewhat bitter, grouchy and hypothermic elderly gentleman.

Years ago he broke off contact with his son and Cedric's father when he took an American wife - a nightmare that has come true for the passionate US hater.

When the earl then has to find out that all his sons have died, he wants Cedric, as the remaining heir, to receive at least a proper education and for this purpose brings him from humble New Yorker backgrounds to his castle in Dorincourt.

There, however, everything turns out very differently than planned.

Under the influence of his royal grandfather, the little "Lord Fauntleroy" does not develop into a clichéd British snob, but rather exerts a great influence on the aristocrat.

Because it is above all Cedric's carefree and lovable childlike manner with which the little boy quickly steals the supposedly petrified heart of his grandfather and lets him finally experience love again in his old days.

ARD will bring the "little lord" back into the Christmas TV program in 2021 - this is how you can see the classic film on television

Just like the Earl of Dourincort, Ricky Schroder also enchants German film fans in his role as "little lord" - and year after year. The Christmas classic has been part of Advent for a good three full decades and must of course not be missing in this year's "staadn time": Traditionally, the ARD director Jack Gold's masterpiece is again showing one week before Christmas Eve on December 17, 2021 this December Prime time at 8.15 p.m. A repeat date is not yet known.

In addition, "Der kleine Lord" is running on the channels SRF 1 and ORF 2, which can also be received on many German TV sets - on December 24, 2021 at 11:05 a.m. (SRF1) and on December 25, 2021 at 9:05 a.m. (ORF 2).

All streaming fans can also watch the iconic Christmas film via providers such as “Amazon Prime Video”, “Magenta TV” or “Sky Store”.
