The self-allocation phase of Secondary One will begin on January 3, 2022. St. Joseph's College, a traditional prestigious school in the Central and Western District, will hold a briefing on Secondary One admission today (27th) to introduce the admission arrangements.

The school announced that the number of self-allocated places for entering Secondary One in the 2022/23 school year will remain 54. Applications will be accepted from January 3 to January 17, and all applicants will be given physical interview opportunities.

The principal Huang Wanfen predicts that hundreds of people will sign up this year, with an average of 8-9 people competing for one place.

She revealed that due to the wave of immigration and some students' overseas studies, more than 100 students dropped out of the school last year, and the number of transfers in classes increased in disguise.

She expects that the wave of immigration and school advancement will continue for some time, and then will slow down. She encourages students who cannot be assigned to school on their own to consider joining classes in the future.

Applicants who are not studying at St. Joseph's Primary School can pick up the application form from the school network or in person from next Monday (29th); and on January 3 From Sunday to 17th (except Sundays and public holidays), you can submit the application form in person at the school during office hours. The principal expects about 8-9 people to compete for one place this year

Huang Wanfen pointed out that last year, due to the impact of the epidemic, physical interviews could not be held, and the number of applicants was relatively reduced. About 7 people competed for one place. Because physical interviews resumed this year, the number of applicants is expected to increase. It is expected that an average of 8-9 people will compete for one place this year.

All applicants will be arranged for an interview on February 26, 2022. Details will be notified by mail.

In terms of scoring, interviews accounted for 50%, academic performance accounted for 25%, extracurricular activities and awards accounted for 15%, and conduct accounted for 10%.

All applicants will be interviewed for 3 minutes each in Chinese, English, Mathematics and Personal Growth

The interview is divided into four parts: Chinese, English, mathematics and personal growth. Each part takes about three minutes to assess academic knowledge and analytical skills.

Huang Wanfen said that the test questions vary from year to year, mainly centering on daily life, family, and study. In the past, male school students were asked if they would like to take home economics classes; and the school will also pay attention to applicants’ interview attitude, politeness and expression skills.

Mr. Deng said that after spending thousands of yuan to enroll in the interview class for his son, he was confident that he could enroll in his favorite school.
