An exhibition, which opens tomorrow in the exhibition rooms of the Città dell'Altra Economia in Rome in the Testaccio area, to denounce the discriminatory messages circulating on social networks towards people with Down syndrome and other forms of disability. "... Sorry for the delay ...", the title chosen by the organizers who wanted to play on irony but also on provocation. In fact, a small part of those thousands of “black humor memes” that circulate on children's cellphones will be exhibited, cartoons that (in this case depicting images of Down boys) make fun of their condition. The images are contrasted with positive thoughts and comments made by some pupils of a middle school in Rome.

The initiative, sponsored by the National Office against Racial Discrimination (Unar), is of the newly formed voluntary organization "L'Insieme Odv", made up of a group of professionals with experience in volunteering.

“These 'memes' now fill the cell phones of our children - explains the president of the organization, Daniele Orecchia - there are about Jews, Nazism, ethnic racism, September 11, and in general they always affect the most vulnerable. We must denounce them and fight them to prevent a racist and discriminatory subculture from conquering young people ”.

“L'insieme Odv” works to raise awareness on the problems affecting young people and at the same time provide concrete help to the most fragile categories.

In this sense, the agreements already signed with various Roman institutions are different, such as the supply of machinery and equipment for the treatment of patients of the General Surgery Unit of the Cristo Re Hospital, the humanization of hospital environments to enhance the quality of life of patients within the UOC IFO Radiology of the Regina Elena National Cancer Institute, or the collection of consumer goods for the inmates of the Regina Coeli prison, bought and donated by the children of the Roman sports associations on the occasion of an event sponsored by the FIGC Lazio school youth sector in December.
