Schwangau - With the "goal of achieving the best possible solutions for all citizens", the administration of the municipality of Schwangau worked on "larger and more complex tasks" in 2020 concerning the village of the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

Mayor Stefan Rinke (CSU) emphasized this at the citizens' meeting in the Schlossbrauhaus.

However, only 30 people from Schwangau had come there.

Those who came in spite of the high incidences apparently felt so well informed after Rinke's annual report, which lasted for about an hour, that there was no longer even a discussion.

Before Rinke looked back on the year in great detail with extensive figures, he not only thanked the administration for their "flexibility and great commitment", but also the local council, whose "great personal commitment" he praised.

The town hall chief then announced that the annual result for the overall budget amounted to 17.8 million euros, the income and expenditure of which were balanced in both the administrative budget (12.3 million euros) and the property budget (5.5 million euros).

The income from taxes and allocations fell from 6.5 million euros in 2019 to around 3.9 million euros, which is why the municipality "for losses in trade tax", which amounted to around 500,000 euros in 2020, a requirement allocation of around 1.6 Million euros.

The largest item in terms of expenditure in the administrative budget was personnel costs at 3.2 million euros, Rinke informed those present.

These have increased by a good four percent compared to 2019 to 25.8 percent of the total expenditure of the administrative budget.

The transfer of the administrative budget to the asset budget decreased by around 1.5 million to 1.6 million euros.

Big investments

Nonetheless, the municipality was able to make investments amounting to 5.3 million euros, emphasized the mayor, who cited the municipal land acquisition as the largest single investment with around 1.6 million euros.

He was particularly pleased about the debt development in 2020, which fell by almost 200,000 euros to 1.6 million euros.

That means a per capita debt of the Schwangau of 479 euros and takes into account the obligation of the community to "reduce the debt".

Last year, however, the reserves also went down from eight to 5.5 million euros.

In addition, for 2021 “a withdrawal of three million euros from reserves and reserves of 2.5 million euros are expected,” Rinke emphasized.

Fewer guests

In addition, with a view to tourism in the municipality, he announced that Schwangau had "fewer foreign guests and overnight stays" in 2020 than in the previous year, before he finally spoke about some current construction work and plans that are being dealt with in Schwangau, reported. As examples, he cited the renovation of the kindergarten and the renovation of the spa park, the interior construction of the new tourist information and the expansion of the state road in 2016.

According to Rinke, plans are also underway in the Schwangau town hall with regard to the designation of the Schwangau water protection area, the home and demographic strategy, the cycle path between Brunnen and Schwangau and the Forggensee development plan.

The mayor emphasized that “good planning for 2022” has been drawn up.

"We still have tradition and customs, we can be proud of that!"
