Czech President Milos Zeman, hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19, left the hospital on Saturday to appoint a new prime minister on Sunday, his spokesman Jiri Ovcacek told AFP.

” Sunday, he said, adding that the format of the ceremony was “
under consideration
”. It is not known how the ceremony could go, the president, 77, to be in solitary confinement for two weeks under the health rules in force.
The head of state was released from the hospital on Thursday after being admitted there on October 10, but had to be urgently admitted again after testing positive for the coronavirus. He was hospitalized for the first time the day after the legislative elections, in intensive care, where he remained for more than three weeks before being transferred to a convalescent unit. He accepted on November 11 the formal resignation of the government of the outgoing Prime Minister, the populist billionaire Andrej Babis, following his electoral failure.
The Czech Republic (10.7 million inhabitants), is grappling with a record daily growth in the number of contaminations, which led the government to announce new restrictions on Thursday, including the closure of restaurants, bars and nightclubs la night, as well as all the Christmas markets.
