Because 2G plus should apply in the lifts, the upcoming winter sports season is worrying many operators.
At Tegernsee the mood fluctuates between fear and hope.
The preparations are ongoing.
Ostin / Kreuth
- There was an outcry in the cable car industry these days: The Bavarian state government wants to prescribe 2G plus for its ski areas.
That would mean that only vaccinated and convalescent people with a current test are allowed to take a seat in the lifts.
According to the current status, this would also affect small ski areas such as the one on the Oedberg in Ostin.
According to his own words, lift operator Georg Reisberger would be ready to open his facilities even with this "increased effort".
It's not just about profitability, he says.
It's also about enabling people to ski again.
"It's also about quality of life."
Oedberg: Snow cannons only run when temperatures are in the basement
Preparations for a ski and snowboard season in Ostin have long since started.
The summer toboggan run was dismantled, the lifts and snow cannons for winter operation were brought into position.
"We will probably produce snow on the depot," announced Reisberger.
In order to save costs, however, he doesn't want to start making snow until the temperatures are in the basement.
Then the artificial white can be produced much cheaper, explains the head of the Oedberg plants.
A major factor of uncertainty for Reisberger is the announced restriction to 25 percent.
Does this actually relate to the delivery rate or to the number of visitors?
“That's a big difference,” says Reisberger.
Ski school operator hopes that the government will improve the corona rules
Albert Meier, co-owner of the Tegernsee ski school in Kreuth, is still quite confident about the upcoming winter sports season.
Meier's business is located at the Hirschberg lifts and hopes that the government will improve its Corona requirements for ski operations.
After all, it makes a big difference whether as a skier you take a seat in a closed gondola with three other passengers or use an open drag lift like the one on the Hirschberg.
"I hope that politics will still make a difference," says Meier.
Ski courses also possible under 2G-plus requirements: main clientele under 12
Otherwise, Meier believes that his ski school could master the season even under 2G-plus requirements.
“We mostly have students under the age of twelve,” explains the operator.
It is well known that children up to the age of twelve years and three months no longer have to fear access restrictions.
From last year, Meier and his partners have a ready-made hygiene concept for the ski school and for rental - which is possible without contact.
“Everything is prepared,” says the operator.
There is also great demand for ski and snowboard courses.
"You can tell that after the canceled season, the parents finally want their children to learn to ski."
The operator of the Hirschberg lifts wants to wait and see
Sepp Kandlinger as the operator of the Hirschberg lifts is still hesitant.
At the moment, he could not make any prognosis as to whether and under what circumstances the season on Hirschberg could take place.
"We'll wait and see the situation," says Kandlinger.
In his opinion, anything else would be a wasted effort.
"We can't look into the crystal ball."
