“The collapse of the currency.. international isolation and a deteriorating economy.” With these words, the American Foreign Policy magazine summarized the series of suffocating crises facing the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as a result of his failed policies at the international and domestic levels.

The magazine said, in the context of an analysis of the American expert on Middle East politics, Stijn Cook, that Erdogan and his “Justice and Development” party are going through difficult months amid the decline in their popularity and the international isolation that Turkey suffers from due to the policies of the Turkish regime, in addition to the continuous economic deterioration, noting that Erdogan’s attempts to gain political credit through Courtship of neighboring countries did not work.

The magazine pointed out that the collapse of the Turkish economy is the most serious predicament facing Erdogan, as the Turkish lira lost 45 percent of its value last year, and the general economic picture for Turks remains bleak, as inflation is rising to 20 percent, while the unemployment rate has reached 14 percent.

Due to the collapse of the currency, major Turkish banks moved towards closing their online operations, amid popular protests that swept the country recently, calling for the resignation of the government, the resignation of Erdogan, and the holding of early parliamentary elections.

The magazine drew attention to Erdogan's attempts to restore previous regional relations and consolidate others, including with the Israeli occupation entity, to gain political credit, indicating that his attempts did not fully succeed.

The magazine pointed to the troubled Turkish-European relations due to Erdogan's policies and his charged relations with the European Union, explaining that the Europeans moved to impose sanctions on the head of the Turkish regime, but German Chancellor Angela Merkel prevented this move.

The magazine enumerated the main points of contention between Erdogan and the European Union, including his exploitation of the immigration file to blackmail Europeans by threatening to open his country's borders to the flow of migrants and refugees to their lands in exchange for political and material gains, in addition to his repressive policies targeting all opponents of him, whether inside or outside Turkey, and challenging the courts. Turkey to the European Court of Human Rights in cases of opponents of Erdogan, including the case of the detention of Turkish businessman Osman Kavala.

The magazine pointed out that the relations between Erdogan and Washington are not better, stressing that the attempts of the Turkish regime's president to improve his foreign relations will not do much for the Turkish economy, as undermining the independence of the Central Bank and putting pressure on it to keep interest rates low is the main cause of the crisis.

The deterioration of the economic situation in Turkey in recent months has been exacerbated by the failed policies of the Turkish regime, which has prompted tens of thousands of Turks to take to the streets recently, denouncing Erdogan's policies.

The hashtag “government’s resignation” was also issued on Twitter in an attempt to get rid of the grip of the Turkish regime, which now controls all parts of the state, which led to the lack of credibility and independence in the judicial and economic sectors and to the occurrence of a real crisis embodied in social terms by the practices of intimidation and the suppression of freedoms with the continuation of the arrest campaigns that Erdogan is waging it to get rid of opponents of his policies, and from an economic point of view, it is embodied in the tension of the markets, the flight of investors, and the increasing severity of the financial crisis.
