Despite reservations, especially with regard to social and climate policy, the Green Youth recommends that its members approve the coalition agreement with the SPD and FDP. »We don't have any traffic light euphoria. Nobody is standing here with traffic light-colored confetti cannons, "said Green Youth boss Timon Dzienus on Saturday in Berlin at a conference of the Green youth organization with around 50 delegates from the countries. But he also emphasized: "This coalition agreement opens a first window for improvement."
The so-called state council accepted an urgency motion from the board with minor changes and a large majority.
“We as Green Youth will not oppose the coalition agreement and therefore recommend that our members approve the coalition agreement.
This does not affect the fact that each member can make a free and self-determined decision taking into account the evaluation that has taken place «, it says in the application.
The 125,000 Greens members can still decide on the coalition agreement in a strike vote until December 6th.
A simple majority is sufficient; there is no quorum.
A good two thirds of the 18,000 or so members of the Green Youth, namely 12,480 according to the latest information, have a party membership card.
Supporters of the youth organization make up a tenth of all Green members.
If it turns out that the progress in climate protection has not been enough, the traffic light government must improve, said Timon Dzienus: "The Paris climate target is definitely more important than compliance with the coalition agreement." According to the Paris climate agreement, the international community wants to limit global warming as much as possible Limit 5 degrees compared to the pre-industrial age. "This coalition agreement will probably not be enough for 1.5 degrees," complained co-boss Sarah-Lee Heinrich.
Nevertheless, Heinrich also campaigned for approval of the agreements with the SPD and FDP. "There are clear improvements in almost every area of this coalition agreement," she said and at the same time warned: "This agreement does not do justice to social needs." The traffic light's sociopolitical plans were insufficient. It is all the more important to continue fighting for left-wing politics together with movements and associations. "We mustn't go into a state of shock," appealed Heinrich.
The tenor of the delegates who were drawn for speeches was similar.
There was a lot of praise for social liberalization projects, for example in the abortion law or in the equality of queer families.
"Socio-politically, this coalition agreement is moving in the fast lane towards the present," explained Kasimir Heldmann from Berlin.
Pia Scholten from Lower Saxony predicted: "The Greens have four extremely exhausting years in front of their chest." The height of fall is high.
"But we just want to make compost out of shit."

Juso criticism of Scholz, Ampel and migration policy: "I just think that sucks" By Christian Teevs
Speaking of strong expressions: Also on Saturday the Jusos, the youth organization of the coalition partner SPD, gathered for the federal congress in Frankfurt am Main.
The upcoming Social Democratic Chancellor also appeared - and Olaf Scholz had to listen to some violent and crude criticism.
Konstantin Achinger, head of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia Jusos, called for the Hartz IV sanctions to be completely abolished and the standard rates to be raised - "otherwise we can smear the talk of respecting dignity in our hair."
And Marco Albers from Hanover called the offensive announced by the traffic light to repatriate migrants "just shit": "In which world is it a step forward to deport more people than the Union?"
