The storm in the north-west of England caused around 120 trucks to be stuck in the snow for several hours.
The motorway police there were apparently busy all night cleaning up the chaos and getting the heavy amounts of snow off the roads for Great Britain.

Further north, households were without electricity.
The utility Northern Powergrid said 55,000 affected customers, mostly in the northern regions of Northumberland and County Durham.
Several train connections were interrupted in Scotland.
ScotRail encouraged its customers to avoid travel whenever possible.
Only in the morning hours did the weather * slowly calm down.
