Nuremberg's Lord Mayor Marcus König calls for a ban on firecrackers at the turn of the year.

The reason is, among other things, the utilization of the clinics and intensive care units.

Nuremberg - Lord Mayor Marcus König has spoken out in favor of a firecracker ban at the turn of the year.

The decisive factors are the rapidly increasing number of corona infections and the utilization of the clinics and intensive care units.

"However, in order to be able to issue a ban on firecrackers and rockets on New Year's Eve 2021, a reliable legal basis is required," explains König in a press release from the city of Nuremberg *.

He called on the federal and state governments to create this basis for the municipalities.

It is not possible without a corresponding regulation.

Nuremberg: Clinics are full of corona patients

A firecracker ban on New Year's Eve had already been decided last year because the clinics were reaching their capacity limits.

"We have this situation again this winter - unfortunately the situation is even worse," emphasizes the mayor.

There are even fewer intensive care beds and fewer capacities.

Nuremberg: Corona situation in Bavaria is worsening

The disaster was declared again in Bavaria.

In addition, the “clover leaf” was activated this week.

The concept enables intensive care patients to be strategically transferred from congested hospitals to less stressed hospitals in other regions.

For example, the Air Force has been flying seriously corona patients from Memmingen * to other federal states since Friday.

"So it is important to prevent further exposure - especially from victims of accidents with fireworks -" says König.

According to him, the ban on fireworks is "the right thing to do, also this year".

The sooner a reliable legal basis is created for this, the better.
