Iran expressed its hope that the joint efforts of the United Nations and the international community would take the necessary steps to lift the unilateral sanctions on Syria to improve the humanitarian situation and the return of the displaced.
Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji stressed, during a phone call today, the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen, the need for the continuation of the Syrian political process and the continuation of talks within the framework of the committee to discuss the constitution.
For his part, Pedersen stressed the importance of expanding humanitarian aid as an important element in resolving the crisis in Syria, praising at the same time Iran's efforts in this process.
