More than 900 titles were included in the book fair hosted by the Arab Cultural Center in Al-Aziziyah in the city of Aleppo under the title “Reading is an endless life” as part of the celebration of the Syrian Cultural Days.
The exhibition, which is held in cooperation between the Arab Writers Union, the Directorate of Culture, and the National Union of Syrian Students, the Aleppo Institutes Branch, was described by Muhammad Al-Abdullah, head of the Writers Union branch in Aleppo, as comprehensive due to its diversity and richness in titles, which contributes to restoring the book to its splendor and to the readers’ audience, especially with setting a symbolic price for a single issue. Exceeding 200 pounds.
Zikra Hajjar, a member of the Executive Office in Aleppo Governorate, explained the importance of such exhibitions because the book is the basis of culture, development and renaissance, pointing out the students' enthusiasm for reading, especially that the prices are very symbolic and the titles are diverse and comprehensive.
Jaber Al-Sajour, Director of Culture in Aleppo, indicated that the exhibition aims to encourage young people to go to reading halls and libraries to draw from science and knowledge and be able to acquire various books, noting that the exhibition will continue until the end of next month.
Youssef Mardanli, a member of the leadership of the National Union of Syrian Students, the Aleppo Institutes Branch, pointed out the importance of paper books and their role in building society and nurturing the minds of young people, especially with the dominance of electronic culture, pointing to the heavy demand from students to the exhibition.
