- When Janine Schnabel sank the ball into the goal on Thursday evening for the 27:25 final score in the home game of her SC Weßling, who is in the regional league, against TSV Ottobeuren, it was clear: It was the last handball that this year in a point game in Fünfseenland found its way into the network. The Bavarian Handball Association interrupts its season in all age groups due to the stricter corona rules until at least January 9th.

“It's definitely the right decision because it wasn't a good feeling in the past few weeks. We all want to celebrate Christmas with our grandparents in peace, ”says Veronika Jakob. The head of department at SC Weßling hopes that things can continue soon in the new year. But it is less important to her that she wants to see her teams fighting for points and goals. “If we can play again, it means that the situation in our hospitals has calmed down again. And that's exactly what we all want, "says Jakob. It is still open whether at least the training operations can continue, as expressly requested by the association. “It's not a problem for the children. They just have to show the current test from school, ”explains Jakob. For the adults and the elderly,However, the 2G-plus rule has been in effect since Wednesday for young people who are already working. This means that vaccinated and convalescent people have to show a negative corona test before every training session. Unvaccinated people had previously been excluded. “Rapid tests are currently in short supply. Maybe we have to at least limit the training times, ”fears the division manager.

They are currently not familiar with such problems at TSV Herrsching. "With wise foresight, I plundered the Rossmann inventory weeks ago," says department head Christina Reich. At the club on the east bank of the Ammersee, for several weeks now, based on a decision by the department management, training has only been carried out with a test beforehand. "Many of them can be tested beforehand in the pharmacy or in the test center," reports Reich. At the moment, only Bambini training, the exercise units for the youngest handball players, is severely restricted. “They often only want to train when their parents are in the stands. But that doesn't work if they haven't been vaccinated or have recovered, ”reports Reich.

The handball players at TSV Gilching-Argelsried are not quite as well prepared. “But it will continue with us as long as the municipality lets us into the hall. In the past, however, that didn't put any obstacles in our way, ”says division head Stephan Meyer. However, the general practitioner knows from personal experience that rapid tests in particular are extremely scarce at the moment. “Actually, we wanted to test ourselves daily in practice. However, due to the shortage, this rule was withdrawn after just one day, ”says Meyer. He hopes there will be some relief in the coming weeks. "Above all, I am counting on the increasing number of vaccinations to ease the situation," says the Falken department head.

The Weßlinger women at least proved on Thursday that games are possible under 2G-plus conditions.

"Everything went well.

But of course you don't need something like that in the long run, ”said Jakob.
