More than 25 children, adolescents and young adults with disabilities and Down syndrome participated today in the “Tomorrow is Better” event, which was held by the “Love and Wafa” initiative in As-Suwayda.

The event, which was hosted at the headquarters of the Peace Center for Development and Training, included an exhibition of handicrafts that lasts for three days, which included various artifacts of accessories, paper models, and others.

The coordinator of the Love and Wafa initiative in Suwayda, Faryal Al-Saleem, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the event, which was held on the occasion of the International Children’s Day and the International Day of the Disabled, came with the aim of shedding light on the skills and creativity of these groups, supporting them psychologically, enhancing their integration with their peers, as well as contributing to the marketing of their products.

During the opening of the event, Director of Social Affairs and Labor, Samer Bahsas, pointed out the importance of continuing to provide the required support to the segment of people with disabilities and cooperating with various civil initiatives and charities working in this field.

The specialist director for social guidance, Ahed Al-Amatori, stated that these events make the participants feel their ability to prove their presence in the community, develop their capabilities according to the developmental stage in which they live, and enhance their self-reliance.

Meanwhile, the supervisor at the Future Institute for People with Special Needs in Sweida, Maram Malak, indicated that 17 children with multiple disabilities who were rehabilitated within the institute participated in the event in proportion to their abilities and capabilities to do something important in their lives.

Hassan Shukair, Hashem Al-Taweel and Mary Al-Salama expressed their happiness to participate in the event, which motivates them more to continue developing their talents.

The “Love and Wafa” initiative in As-Suwayda Governorate is one of the humanitarian initiatives aimed at spreading the values ​​of love among members of society and supporting children and the elderly.
