After many years of floating around, something is happening at the “Green Center” in Unterhaching's Stumpfwiese residential area.

Unterhaching

- The fallow area between Witney- and Ludwig-Specht-Straße is being redesigned using the development plan procedure.

As a connection between the north and south of the residential area, this provides for a shared footpath and cycle path;

the remaining area should offer “a central function with a pleasant stay” for the stump meadow.

This is only the rough direction - many details should be worked out together with the residents.

The community is starting a broad information dialogue and has engaged the architecture office “Studio - Stadt - Region” (SSR) for this purpose.

Its urban planning experts are preparing a “hybrid course format” with an open-air exhibition and survey this year.

Weatherproof information station

Component one is an analogue weatherproof information station on site, where citizens can find out about the municipal council resolution from mid-December to the end of January.

Robust information boards are provided for possible planning drafts, but also optical simulations based on printed and stretched construction site plans (similar to the new charging station on Grünwalder Weg in summer).

On these visualizations there should be internet links and QR codes to further digital content.

In addition, the SSR office will moderate two citizen consultation hours neutrally, i.e. without party-political preferences.

Online survey

The second component provides for an online survey.

Those who are less digitally savvy have the opportunity to submit their suggestions using postcards displayed on site in comment fields.

The evaluation of this survey will take place in January.

Weigh the results

After this first round of public participation, the results are weighed up and may even trigger an adaptation of the draft.

This is followed by a further public display and again an analysis of the objections before a final resolution of the articles of association is made in the development plan procedure (which usually takes about two years).

"So you can rub yourself against the proposals in a series of meetings," said Mayor Wolfgang Panzer (SPD) in the local council.

A lot of effort for a small place?

The fact that the municipality hires the external SSR office due to a lack of internal resources is not entirely undisputed with a view to the budget. "I'm amazed at the effort we put into such a small place," complained Christine Helming (FWU). Wolfgang Panzer replied that in view of the many people affected and the long-term controversy of the topic, it was “justified that we should use these funds”. Armin Konetschny (Greens) also found: "This area of the 'Green Center' with its longitudinal and cross connections is of very elementary importance for Unterhaching, so professional support makes sense."

The hitherto provisional one-way street regulation in Walter-Paetzmann-Straße will be an additional topic of the overall consideration.

The tendency (without the consent of the CSU) is to keep the one-way street.

Reason: This ensures the traffic safety of the two kindergartens located there.
