The Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, confirmed that his country would respond if anyone tried to test its defensive strength.
"There are possibilities of the emergence of armed groups in Ukraine that will try to test the Russian defense force, and they hope that we will not respond and will run out of capabilities that NATO has, and this is a very dangerous illusion," Antonov told the Soloviev channel, which is broadcast on YouTube. The Americans claim that it is defensive.
Antonov pointed out that the accusations leveled at Russia about a possible military threat to Ukraine could be linked to attempts to hide the failures in the policy of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
"We are clear here, we talk constantly and in the media, and we tell American experts and the American administration that Russia will not attack anyone," Antonov added.
Earlier in the day, the director of Russia's foreign intelligence service, Sergei Naryshkin, described US allegations of a possible "Russian invasion" of Ukraine as "pure nonsense."
