The Minister of the Interior announced the decision in an interview with the "Meet the Press" program • The proposal will be submitted to the Knesset for approval in the coming month

More light during the day for more days a year:

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked announced tonight on Channel 12's "Meet the Press" program a decision to shorten the winter time by about three weeks.

In an interview, Shaked said that "shortening the winter clock will save costs for the economy and will not hurt the students and the worshiping public. In doing so, Israel is in fact adapting to drive in the United States, where the clock is also moved in early March."

Just before the Corona cabinet an important update: I decided to bring summer time forward to early March, instead of at the end.

And there is nothing to worry about, the sunrise is early enough so that the children will go to school in the light and the worshipers will have time to pray in the morning before work.

The goal is to pass the law next month so that it will apply later this year.

What does winter time mean?

The transfer of time to winter time and daylight saving time is carried out in Israel according to the latest version of the Timing Law of 2013. According to the Time Law, as every year, on the last Sunday of October, the clock in Israel is moved back one hour.

This time is called "winter time" and is one of the two times that is commonly used in Israel.

Winter time ends as every year on the last Friday of March where the clock is moved an hour forward, this time is called "daylight saving time".

Winter time is not only meant to "earn" an hour of sleep in the morning as one might think, but the change of hours between summer and winter makes it possible to adjust human activity to the hours of light and darkness.

In summer for example, we gain late hours of light, and in winter we usually wake up at hours when the sun is starting to shine.

Thus, essential hours for exploitation by man or the economy are not missed.

Beyond daylight saving time allows for electricity savings in one year at a cost of hundreds of millions of shekels.
