The president of the South African Medical Association, Angelique Coetzee, confirmed that it was too early to put her country on the red list for travel after the discovery of the omicron mutant from the Corona virus.
Coetzee told Sputnik that there is not enough clinical evidence to prove the risks associated with the "B 1.1.5290" variant, which the World Health Organization called "Omicron", pointing out that hospitals have not yet received large numbers of patients with the new mutation.
Coetzee explained that Omicron comes in the form of a mild illness with symptoms of sore muscles, fatigue for a day or two, and feeling restless.
And the World Health Organization classified Omicron, which was first detected in South Africa, as a worrying strain, and it is the fifth version of the Corona virus placed in this classification.
