Thailand announced today that it is preventing entry from eight African countries, which it has classified as high-risk, due to the outbreak of the new mutated Amicron strain of the Corona virus.
Reuters quoted a senior official in the health sector in Thailand as saying in a press conference: "As of next December, travelers from eight African countries, including South Africa, Botswana and Malawi, will be prohibited from entering."
It is noteworthy that Omicron is the fifth strain of corona and has been classified by the World Health Organization as worrisome.
European and Asian countries had tightened travel restrictions to their lands after the new strain was detected and an infection was recorded in Belgium.
