The police received a report that a 29-year-old man, Wu Jingyuan, left his home at Kingswood Villas on Tin Kwai Road, Tin Shui Wai, and went hiking in Sai Kung yesterday (26th) afternoon. However, he lost contact and his family was worried and asked the police for help.
The police and firefighters searched the vicinity of Pak La Wan in Sai Kung, and the Government Flying Service also sent helicopters to hover over the sky.
This morning (27th) search personnel have not found the trace of the victim. According to on-the-spot information, a hiker found a batch of personal belongings such as mobile phones and bank cards beside a cliff in Bai La Bay at 9 o'clock this morning. Whether it belonged to Wu Nan's item, the search and rescue team continued to search on the spot in the afternoon.
However, at about 8 pm tonight, the Marine Police Search and Rescue Team and firefighters recovered Wu Jingyuan from the Bai La Sea in Sai Kung. He was certified dead at the scene. The cause of death is yet to be determined after an autopsy.
When interviewed, the victim’s father said that his son is studying architecture and design and other disciplines at university, and he is now mainly taking up related jobs.
Moreover, the victim has been living with his family and has no emotional problems at all. It is estimated that this is a hiking accident.
