Third division soccer team 1. FC Magdeburg honored its former goalkeeper Hans-Georg Moldenhauer before the top game against Eintracht Braunschweig.
On the occasion of the 80th birthday of the former DFB Vice President, a plaque of honor was unveiled at the Elbe city stadium on Saturday.
Moldenhauer turned 80 on Thursday.
Magdeburg - "Moldenhauer is one of the legends of the club," said President Peter Fechner.
“He has always represented us well, right up to the top of the DFB.” Moldenhauer has been a member of the FCM and its predecessors since 1956.
In 1967 he rose to the league, the top division of the GDR.
He played 158 competitive games for Magdeburg and won the FDGB Cup in 1964 and 1969.

In future, art historian Jasmin Hartmann will coordinate research into the origin of art and cultural assets in museums, archives and libraries in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Hartmann will head the new coordination office for provenance research (KPF.NRW) on January 1st, the Ministry of Culture announced on Tuesday.
The state-wide contact point located in Bonn is intended to advise, support and network museums and other institutions in all questions of origin research.

After a serious illness, the law graduate died on Thursday morning in his finca on Palma de Mallorca in the presence of his wife and close family members, as the family confirmed in a statement on Thursday.
