The holiday season may be time to eat pork dishes, but at a British golf club, some pigs are creating quite a fuss.

Two huge pigs recently entered the course of the Lightcliffe Golf Club in Yorkshire, disrupting play and even injuring some golfers who tried to drive them away.

They appeared for the first time on Sunday, recalls president Philip Marshall, although he tells CNN Sport that the club "does not know where they came from."

"One of our golfers saw these pigs on the course and tried to scare them away and suffered a cut on his leg and had to go to the ER for an injection," explains Marshall.

"And then they disappeared, so we thought they were gone."

One of the pigs is found on the side of a road next to the golf course.

"On Tuesday they reappeared and dug up the 18th green, the first tee, and our green manager tried to chase one of them away, who turned on him and cut off his leg. He had to go get a tetanus shot, but okay. And this morning (Thursday) he made a hole in one. So it doesn't have any negative effect. "

Although Marshall describes the injuries as minor cuts, they both went to the ER as a precaution, as they were injuries caused by a wild animal.

"Obviously, they are dangerous"

Since the members of the golf club were unable to round up the pigs themselves, the damage had to be contained and help had to arrive.

Marshall says he called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and local police.

Police said that coming to collect the pigs was not their jurisdiction and that the RSPCA would come to help when they could, but that "they were very overloaded."

"What happened was that I was there most of the day until dark, and we managed to get them to the farthest corner of the field," explains Marshall.

"So we took them to the corner of the field and left them there. We couldn't get close to them, we closed the field because they are obviously dangerous."

"They ended up on Tuesday night on the side road outside the golf club. They were put into transports and taken away. We don't know where they come from or what happened to them."

One of the pigs is on a path next to the golf club.

Since then, Lightcliffe has reopened to the public and offers an additional bonus to whoever signs up to play.

"Whoever signs up online and comes and plays, we are offering a free bacon sandwich," Marshall said.
