In its first visit to Mexico, the United Nations Committee against Forced Disappearances condemned what it called "impunity" and "ineffectiveness" of the authorities regarding the disappearances of persons.
According to official figures, in Mexico the whereabouts of more than 95,000 people are unknown since 1965.
