Amazon boss Jeff Bezos explains how he envisions the solution.

And science fiction fans will like it.

Washington - It sounds like utopia, but in the opinion of Amazon magnate Jeff Bezos it is becoming a reality: The man who recently made headlines more with his space project than with the lucrative online service announced a thesis at the Ignatius Forum 2021 in the US capital that could also be the subject of a science fiction classic.

Bezos explained that at some point mankind will leave earth in order to find a new living environment in space.

That the 57-year-old expresses such a thesis does not seem surprising: On the one hand, the Amazon founder himself has already made a short flight into space, and the event in Washington was held under the motto "Our Future in Space" Space).

Earth becomes uninhabitable - will humanity flee into space?

The controversial CEO of the American shopping giant believes that “in the next few centuries, perhaps most people will be born in space, this will be their home”.

There are several reasons for the gradual migration of the human species: Climate change is causing temperatures to rise, more and more populated regions of the world are forecast to become uninhabitable and, given the unchecked increase in population, natural resources are coming to an end.

Jeff Bezos also spoke of the fact that the earth only has resources to feed “possibly ten billion people”, but that is different in space: “The solar system can support billions of people,” believes the extremely wealthy entrepreneur.

However, anyone who believes that mankind's flight from the problems on earth would end on other planets is mistaken in his opinion: Bezos doubts the colonization of other planets.

Rather, the scenario of colonies floating in space plays an essential role.

The Amazon boss believes in tubes that are kilometers long that create artificial gravity and provide a living environment like that on earth: rivers, forests, parks and animals in the wild.

The extraterrestrial civilization would then only head for the home planet Earth for tourist excursions.

The bustling Amazon founder is already pushing his vision with great strides: Recently, Bezos' space program Blue Origin announced that it would send its own space station into space under the name "Orbital Reef":

People in space: Musk thinks little of the Amazon founder's idea

Incidentally, Tesla boss Elon Musk, who heads a space program himself, does not find his colleague's idea realistic.

The 50-year-old thinks the project is “pointless” because building a colony in space would cause insurmountable problems, such as the mass of asteroids, moons and planets.

Meanwhile, on December 9th, the next Blue Origin capsule from the space company Blue Origin will be on its way into space.

This time on board: Laura Shepard Churchley, daughter of the first American in space and TV presenter Michael Strahan.
