Dachau's police chief Thomas Rauscher would also like to see the security guard installed in the Dachau district.

What he doesn't want: mini rambos and informers.

Karlsfeld / District

- Dachau police chief Thomas Rauscher also wants to install security guards in the district.

"There are only advantages, no risks," said Rauscher on Thursday evening at the meeting of the Karlsfeld municipal council.

According to Rauscher's wishes, Karlsfeld is to become the first municipality in the district in which a security guard is set up.

There have been security guards in Bavaria since 2003.

There are currently around 1200 women and men in the Free State.

It is an honorary position, comparable to the fire brigade.

Rauscher was accompanied by Bernd Waitzmann on Thursday.

The Landsberg police chief spoke about his experiences with the security guards, which already exist in several communities in his district.

In the early years there were clear reservations among the police, Waitzmann admitted, "but now we are happy that they exist".

The security guard is supposed to relieve the police.

During the day the members of the security watch are alone, in the evening two on patrol.

It shows its presence, for example, in larger housing estates, in parks, local recreation areas and at public events, and makes sure that everything is right.

If the neighbor turns up the music too loud, this is still a matter for the police, the security guard only works in public spaces.

Increase a sense of security

An important goal is to increase the population's subjective feeling of security, said Rauscher.

The security watch tries to talk to troublemakers and should "proceed with tact and listen".

She may record personal details and issue referrals.

She is not allowed to sanction.

It is not a substitute for the police, emphasized Landsberg's police chief Waitzmann: "If there is real trouble, then we from the police will continue to come!"

The security guard has proven itself, assured Waitzmann.

And he knows "no case that employees of the security watch have been attacked or threatened".

In the city of Landsberg, the security watch currently consists of seven women and men, and there should be ten soon.

The official consent of the community is not required, the police could set up the security guard without consent.

But it is important to Rauscher that a positive signal comes from the local council.

Here the local councils were still holding back.

For the most part, the idea met with approval, but the topic should be on the agenda again in January.

Possible in the coming summer

If possible, the security watch should be on the streets of Karlsfeld as early as the coming summer, said Rauscher.

Other district communities should then follow.

Due to the security guard, municipalities have no costs and no administrative effort.

Rauscher emphasized that the establishment of security guards would result in “no savings” for the police.

The Dachau police station will even be further increased in terms of staff.

Members of the security guard should be between 18 and 62 years old and have completed school or vocational training.

The police take care of the recruitment, selection and training of the security guard candidates.

Waitzmann and Rauscher agree on this: Mini-Rambos and candidates with a block attendant mentality will not be accepted.
