Wartenberg: Great solution for Strogenstraße

A major construction site in the coming year is already casting its shadow and has now caused a lively debate in the Wartenberg Market Council.

In 2022, the Freising State Building Authority will renovate the Wartenberg through-road.

The committee now had to decide whether it would also have the aging sidewalks renovated on this train, because the municipality is responsible for them.

Wartenberg - That can mean costs of up to 600,000 euros in a - tense - household.

After the discussion, in which there was also criticism of the building authority, all councilors, with the exception of Michael Gruber (SPD), finally came out in favor of the big solution.

At the end of October, the market council's traffic committee inspected the area from Erdinger Strasse to Aufhamer Strasse on site.

It was also about accessibility at bus stops and crossing aids after the pavement renovation.

In addition, questions arose about a right-turn lane on Thenner Straße, a new crossing aid in the Sonnenhof area and about the preservation of six affected trees.

Two weeks later, another inspection with the building authority followed.

At the meeting, Mayor Christian Pröbst (CSU) quoted from a letter from the office. It is currently not expected to be completed until 2023 and thus the costs will be spread over two budget years. “If we don't make up our minds today, the building authority may say that it won't renovate until 2023,” explained Pröbst.

So time was pressing, and that was exactly what some advice didn't like. Gruber said that the community would "put the knife on the chest". He thinks it is impossible to quickly have to decide on 600,000 euros. Josef Sedlmaier (CSU) agreed with him. It had also gone too fast for him at short notice, especially since road planning had years in advance. Nevertheless, Sedlmaier spoke out in favor of the renovation of the sidewalks in the course of the road works. Otherwise one would have to “cut open” the freshly renovated street in two or three years.

Eduard Ertl (Neue Mitte) saw it similarly: "For me there is only one solution, even if it is financially the most painful." Years old, other areas even over 40 years. "We should make the sidewalks according to the state of the art and not half-scooped," said Ganslmaier's appeal. Franz Gerstner (CSU), meanwhile, described anything but renovating the sidewalks as "madness". His party colleague Martin Hamberger spoke of a "catastrophic situation" with a view to the current situation.

In view of the budget gap, Dominik Rutz (Greens) referred to the difficulty of weighing up which investment is most important for the coming year, citing schools, kindergartens and PV systems as examples. He asked whether it would be possible to lay an empty pipe in the street for the planned local heating project. "You need a real pipe," explained Pröbst. The only problem: The underground road is already full of pipes and cables. The situation is already being investigated.

Gruber later said he could understand all the arguments of his colleagues. But he had "the greatest stomach ache" giving the building authority a license for planning - for example, when it comes to accessibility. Pröbst and building authority manager Marco Lachmann assured, however, that the community will very well have an influence on the work with regard to their interests. "This is a joint plan," Lachmann assured. Especially since the sidewalks are owned by the municipality. In the end, it was added to the resolution that accessibility had to be taken into account and the planning had to be presented to the market.

As is well known, drivers will get a little foretaste of the closure and diversion next year: Due to the construction of a throttle structure for the drainage system and work in the street area, Strogenstraße is already closed - if not quite as extensively.

The full lockdown was recently extended by three weeks to December 18th.
